The Master of Ancient Philosophy is a full-time research program of 24 months. The call for applications is open every year in summer. Students from Philosophy, Classics and Ancient Philology, or from other related disciplines, may be admitted to the program.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Every admitted student is awarded a scholarship which covers all of the enrollment and tuition fees of the whole programme (graduation fees and expenses are not included).
Students may also apply for a scholarship offered by the National Council of Science and Technology (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología, Conacyt, Mexico), in order to cover his/her living expenses, as the Master of Ancient Philosophy is listed in the National Register of Quality Postgraduates (Padrón Nacional de Posgrados de Calidad, PNPC, Mexico) of the same governmental institution.
ADMISSION REQUEST >
In order to apply to the programme: contact the program’s office, fill out the admission form and submit the following documents, according to the submission dates:
  • A digital or printed copy of your undergraduate / Bachelor thesis
  • Updated CV (résumé)
  • Research proposal (pre-project of thesis)
  • Proof of English proficiency (tests such as TOEFL, minimum score: 550, or TOEIC: 750) or of another modern language. If such a proof is unavailable, the applicant will have to take an English exam at the University Language Center, in order to demonstrate his/her degree of English proficiency, at the date and time established by the same Center. 
  • Letter of motivation addressed to the Admissions Committee of the Master of Ancient Philosophy
  • Two recommendation letters from scholars who are acquainted with the academic trajectory of the applicant

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Once the required documents received and approved, the application procedure consists of the following steps:

  • A personal interview with two members of the Basic Academic Core of the programme
  • A reading comprehension and philosophical analysis test
  • A writing test (philosophical essay)

The programme’s Committee will then discuss all the submitted information and results, in order to analytically evaluate and choose the admitted aspirants to the Propaedeutic Course. The decision of the Committee is under no circumstances subject to appeal. 

The Academic Committee of the programme will classify the applications in three groups: “Admitted” (i. e. the applicant may be enrolled in the program in the semester following the publication of the call for applications), “Provisionally admitted” (i. e. the applicant’s admission is subjected to completion of some requirements) and “Rejected” (i. e. the applicant may not be enrolled at the programme in the following semester).
