Applicants for the Master of Ancient Philosophy should have already acquired knowledge of Classical Antiquity. Moreover, they should have analytic and argumentation skills, as well as a critical way of thinking. Applicants’ undergraduate studies can be in any area related to the program. So far, 28% of the applicants had undergraduate studies different from Philosophy (Ancient Philology, Spanish Literature, Psychology, History, among others).
At the end of the Master of Ancient Philosophy, after obtaining an excellent education as a scholar and high level research skills, the graduate student should usefully apply his/her knowledge to the context of our present society. Employed in different sectors, including the cultural sector, journalism and publishing or media, the graduate will be able to rationally argue how different aspects of our scientific, political, economic, religious and artistic activities can only be fully understood by referring to their sources from Classical Antiquity.
By having the proper frames of reference in ancient thought, the graduate student will be able to critically value to what extent our society is conscious of its origins. In addition, the graduate student will be able to show, from solid foundations, why it is important to regain numerous elements from that fruitful heritage, in order to face the challenges of our time.
